Ability Beyond To Celebrate 70 Years of Service During Gala & Beyond

Annual “Gala & Beyond” Will Honor Decades of Past Honorees

Honorees representing decades of community service will join Ability Beyond during the Gala & Beyond Platinum Jubilee next month to celebrate the organization’s 70th anniversary.

“Ability Beyond started with a group of parents in Danbury who wanted a better life for their children,” said Jane Davis, the Chief Executive Officer of Ability Beyond. “Today, we’ve grown into one of the largest and most innovative providers of services to adults with disabilities in Connecticut and New York.”

Ability Beyond serves more than 3,000 people with disabilities annually with services including residential, employment training, transition services, day programs social activities and more. Since its founding 70 years ago, the organization has been at the forefront of innovation and best practices recognized and modeled at the state and national levels.

The Gala & Beyond will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at The Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury, CT. The event will be co-chaired by Meghann Smith and Ginny Young and will pay homage to past recipients of the Robert S. Young Humanitarian Award.

More than a dozen honorees representing the award’s 43-year history recently gathered at Ability Beyond’s Bethel, CT headquarters for a reception. Gala & Beyond is the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year.

Gala & Beyond will include cocktails and silent auction, program and live auction, and dinner and dancing with entertainment by Christine O’Leary and The Eturnity Band. Ability is grateful for the returning support of lead Diamond sponsors Bedoukian Research and Maplewood Senior Living.
