Ability Beyond Receives Danbury Grant for Employment Services

DANBURY — A total of $204,000 will be distributed among 18 local nonprofit groups through the City of Danbury's Department of Social Services Grant Program administered by the United Way of Western Connecticut.

Nonprofit agencies that focus their work on education and child care; health and mental health; and financial stability and housing were eligible and invited to apply.

Bethel-based Ability Beyond said it will use its grant money to support its career development services in greater Danbury. These services help hundreds of individuals with disabilities each year find employment locally in manufacturing, retail, nonprofit, entertainment and food services industries.

“Our Career Development programs provide both an important pathway to independence for our clients, while also supporting the local economy with a dedicated and passionate workforce,” said Jane Davis, chief executive officer for Ability Beyond. “We are thrilled to receive the support from the City of Danbury through this grant for such a vital program.”
