Pathways Program Graduates Three Classes

We are thrilled to celebrate a significant milestone with the graduation of our employees from the Pathways to Excellence training program. For the first time, we are proud to graduate three classes of exceptional professionals, showcasing the program’s remarkable growth and success.

This summer’s graduation includes two classes of Direct Support Professionals and one class specializing in Mentoring and Supervision. We are excited to announce that 41 dedicated individuals have completed their training and earned their certifications.

The Pathways to Excellence program is designed to elevate the careers of Ability Beyond’s direct care employees. It provides participants with certification as Direct Support Professionals and offers advanced certifications in areas such as clinical care, behavior support, and mentoring. This initiative paves a meaningful career path and includes increased pay and stipends as graduates advance into specialty or management roles.

The Pathways program curriculum was developed with the University of Minnesota.

By equipping our staff with advanced skills and knowledge, Pathways fosters career satisfaction and stability, contributing to a positive organizational culture and setting new standards of excellence in direct care.

Employee Growth and Retention

“Participating in the Pathways program has been an incredible experience,” said Clason Reed, a Direct Support Professional with the Day Program in Bethel who recently earned his second certification through the Pathways program. “It gives us more incentive to stay with Ability Beyond and grow in our careers.  And it allows us to gain the knowledge we need to provide better care to the people we serve.”

The program not only improves the care for those served but has also positively impacted employee retention at a time when the direct care service industry is facing staffing shortages year after year. This allows Ability Beyond to have knowledgeable, engaged, and highly skilled long-term direct support team members. Since the program’s implementation, Ability Beyond’s turnover rate has been reduced dramatically to less than 18 percent—far less than the 50 percent industry national average.

Join us in celebrating the accomplishments of our Pathways graduates and the positive changes they will continue to bring to our community. Together, we are building a brighter future and driving excellence in direct care.
