Employees Graduate from Pathways Training Program
After six months of training, more than a dozen employees took a significant step forward in their careers with Ability Beyond, having earned their Behavioral Specialist Certifications.
The employees graduated from our nationally recognized Pathways to Excellence program, one of the many training opportunities offered by Ability Beyond. This tremendously successful program provides our valued direct-care staff with a meaningful career path, along with increased pay and advanced training and certification.
Ability Beyond direct care employees have the opportunity to train to become Direct Support Professionals, and then advanced certifications in specialty areas including aging, behavioral supports, medical supports, mental health, and mentoring and supervision.
“As Pathways graduates, you have chosen a great career in a growing industry,” Jane Davis, Ability Beyond’s President and CEO, said during the recent graduation ceremony. “It’s an investment not only in yourselves but also in the people we serve.”
Research shows that graduates from the program, many of whom have recently begun their journey with the organization, are twice as likely to be employees with Ability Beyond seven years from now.
“What I’ve always found incredible about Ability Beyond is the tremendous opportunities to grow your own career, while also having a direct and positive impact on others,” Davis said.
Taking the Pathway to Success
For Kendra Majette, the graduation marks her third certification through the program, having started with the Direct Support Professional designation, progressed to mentoring and supervision, and then earned certification as a behavioral specialist.
“It’s a great opportunity and I appreciate that Ability Beyond offers us this chance to expand upon our skills,” she said. “Sometimes there are challenging individuals in the Day Program where I work, and Pathways has given me additional tools and tactics I can use while on the job, and in my personal life.”
Emily Albarran also completed her third Pathways certification.
“It’s been an amazing experience,” she said. “The new skills that I’ve learned through Pathways have given me the confidence I needed to challenge myself and take additional growth opportunities within the organization.”
