Weekly Family Update – Tues., March 31st at 7 PM

Ability Beyond Families,

This week we had our first four COVID-positive test results. All of the staff and family members have been notified. Our staff have shifted from “quarantine” protocols to “isolation” protocols in those locations, and we are working closely with public health officials.

The staff working on the front lines have been wonderful, and I continue to be humbled by the dedication of our team.

We have a plan in place to continue services, to decrease the spread of the virus, and to keep the people we serve and our team as healthy as possible.  We know that in all likelihood, of the 450 or so people we are caring for across 120 locations, more will be tested positive or show symptoms. Most of them will be cared for by us.  This is an extreme logistics and resource challenge that is straining the organization and our team, but not our spirit.  Our priority remains the safety of your loved one and of the entire Ability Beyond family.

Our weekly family call  was held this evening at 7:00 PM.  If you were unable to join us, you can access a recording of the update through your computer by following these directions:

New this week, we are calling all quilters and sewers to help make mask covers to preserve the life of our surgical masks.  Stay tuned tomorrow and we will post a pattern and instructions that are endorsed by the Yale University Healthcare System for all who are able to help with this effort.

In the meantime if you have any questions, please feel free to email, and please watch our website and social media for updates.

Thank you,
