Virtual Yoga for Everyone @ Zoom

On Wednesday, July 8, 2020 @ 7:00 P.M. our new monthly ‘Caring for the Caregiver’ series kicks off with “Yoga for All”. Jane Davis will provide a quick intro to the series followed by a 45-minute stress-reducing movement class led by Heather Morgado. Morgado is a partner at YogaSpace in Bethel, as well as the Associate Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement at Boehringer Ingelheim in Ridgefield.

This session is intended for the family caregivers, as well as the individuals we serve, Ability Beyond staff and Board. Even those families and individuals not served by Ability Beyond are welcome to participate.

The class is adaptable anyone with mobility constraints, and will incorporate the healing breathing and stress reduction techniques.

Those interested in participating may do so via this Zoom link:

Southwest Cafe Margarita VIRTUAL 5K @ Southwest Cafe
Jul 31 – Aug 2 all-day
Southwest Cafe Margarita VIRTUAL 5K @ Southwest Cafe

This year, the Southwest Cafe Margarita 5k goes VIRTUAL!

Barbara Nevins and Southwest Cafe present the 14th annual Southwest Cafe Margarita 5k to benefit Ability Beyond. For 2020, the race will be held virutally due to safety issues with gathering in large crowds. Will you still get a margarita? READ ON!…

The Southwest Cafe Margarita 5K continues to support Ability Beyond, an organization dedicated to empowering every person, no matter their ability, to live, work and thrive as members of their community. The non-profit currently runs two residential programs in Ridgefield; Sunrise Cottage and Ritch Drive. Click on the “donation” button to find out more about Ability Beyond.

What is a Virtual Race?

In a virtual race, YOU get to decide when and where you get to run, during a specific window of time. For this race, you can run your 5k anytime between July 31 at 12:00 AM – August 2 at 11:59 PM. You can run anywhere that’s safe, including a treadmill.
(By the way, we greatly discourage running the in-person course as there will be no traffic control or police to guide traffic.)

You’ll receive all the usual swag: A tech T-shirt* and a race bib. Your race bib then becomes your coupon for your margarita!**
*You’ll receive a $5 discount if you decline a race shirt.

**Your race bib will be good for one free margarita with the purchase of a dinner (take-out ONLY) at Southwest Cafe, expires 10/31/20. Separate, ‘non-coupon’ bibs will be available for underage runners. One coupon per person per visit and bib must be presented. Coupon is good one time only.

Additional information will be in the RACE GUIDE, emailed to you upon registration and found here.

You will be asked to upload your 5k time to our results page after your run.

This will be the honor system, so we are not offering OA or AG prizes this year. However, all runners that upload their times will be entered into raffles for gift cards to Southwest Cafe and Ridgefield Running Company! (Raffles drawn and winners notified on Monday, August 3rd.)

If you registered and you didn’t see an email confirmation, check your spam folders first for “runsignup” or “margarita.” Then, if you still need to confirm, click on the pull-down menu in the upper right corner and select “my races.” Login to your runsignup account, and you’ll see the race(s) that you are signed up for.
