Join us for A Ribbon Cutting!

Join Roses for Autism to celebrate the official ribbon-cutting of our sensory garden, a free and public resource to raise awareness of autism, encourage therapeutic connections with nature and promote social inclusion.

All are welcome and donations are encouraged! Proceeds will support employment training programs and scholarships for adults with disabilities through Roses’ social enterprise at Pinchbeck Rose Farm.

Our ribbon-cutting celebration runs from 1 to 4 p.m., including raffles, silent auction items from throughout Connecticut, live music, a selection of regional food trucks and more! Stay tuned for announcements.

ABOUT THE GARDEN
A sensory garden is a way of communicating with nature and stimulating community members through their senses, promoting social inclusion for any individual with or without disabilities and can be utilized as an aid in healing and meditation. The community will ultimately be rewarded by the sensory garden as it assists in enhancing mental and physical well-being.

The garden will include all seven senses: sight, smell, touch, hearing, taste, vestibular and proprioception. The flowers will provide visual and olfactory stimulation and smell while the herb garden provides oral sensation. We will use various pathway materials for touch such as pebbles and walking stones. In addition, we will have benches for reflection along with bird houses and wind chimes to stimulate hearing.

“An Evening in the Garden” gala hosted by Ability Beyond was an amazing success thanks to the generosity of supporters and sponsors. The annual black-tie event was held on April 29 at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury, attracting close to 500 guests and raising $600,000.   Entertainment was provided…
