Farmington Bank Community Foundation invests in hands-on job training at Printability

January 19, 2018

Plainville, CT – With a generous $1,000 grant from the Farmington Bank Community Foundation, Ability Beyond will upgrade the graphic design and printing equipment at Printability, a company run by 17 young adults with disabilities who serve local vendors while participating in an immersive internship that prepares them for the realities of the workforce.

“At Printability, we run a business in the name of preparing young people for the workforce in the most realistic and modern way. That means our equipment should reflect today’s world,” said Michelle Ouimette, managing director of Printability. “Support from partners like the Farmington Bank Community Foundation make that possible, and will ensure that Ability Beyond can put the best and most effective tools in the hands of the young adults we serve.”

Printability is open five days a week, providing graphic design and printing services to a diverse group of clients that include the Waterbury Symphony and Orchestra, the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, YASBIZ, VinFEN, ServPro, and many private walk-ins. As a result of equipment upgrades, Printability will improve business, work with more clients and provide even more relevant job training to the next generation of diverse employees.
Services at Printability include logos, newsletters, flyers, invitations and much more. With guidance from dedicated staff, and access to Ability Beyond vast educational resources for disability employment, interns become experts in printing and graphic design while learning the ins-and-outs of professionalism, quality customer service, competitive pricing, deadlines, and virtual conferences for consultation.

“Providing hands on experience to young adults is a key factor in a successful work life. Ability Beyond’s social enterprise is a win for the community and its clients.” said Christine Traczyk, executive director of Farmington Bank Community Foundation.
